PURPOSE

HOWCO, Inc. was established in 1969 as an organization focused on the design and implementation of Car Wash Systems. HOWCO’s goal is to assist car wash owners and operators in optimizing their return on invested capital. Utilizing the latest marketing data, equipment, and processes, HOWCO employees aid in sales, project planning, installations, parts, chemicals, and service in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic geographical areas. With expertise in conveyor tunnels, in-bay automatic systems, hand wash programs, and self-service car washes, HOWCO is uniquely qualified to assist prospective and existing car wash operators in maximizing their profitability.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for customer service and sales functions related to providing chemicals, supplies, and materials for daily operations to car wash facilities in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania markets. Develops relationships with the owners/operators/managers. Provides input to and follows sales and service policies, procedures, and processes. Takes initiative to ensure both short-term and long-term tasks and goals are completed. Is flexible in contributing to the team efforts in taking care of the customer. Represents the company in a professional manner, supporting its overall mission, values, and philosophy.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service

  • Maintains contact and relationships with customers in the assigned geographic territory.
  • Processes work orders, chemical orders, supply orders, etc., as needed or suggested for the customer.
  • Documents correspondence and information collected through interaction with the customer.
  • Fulfills the customer needs to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and retention of the customer relationship.
  • Evaluates the customer’s site to assist the customer in anticipating equipment failures, supply sufficiency, etc.
  • Collaborates with equipment sales representatives and service technicians in supporting the customer.

Sales

  • Maintains excellent relationships with customers to obtain on-going sales to support the car wash operation for the customer.
  • Develops new prospects.
  • Interacts with existing customer to increase sales.
  • Increases market share by anticipating customer needs and increasing the number of items each customer is ordering through HOWCO.
  • Establishes routine schedule to follow-up with existing and potential customers regarding services and materials.
  • Meets or exceeds established sales goals.

Technical Service

  • Initiates conversations with existing customers and potential customers and suggests ways that HOWCO can assist them in their car wash business.
  • Identifies parts for replacement or replacement of components.
  • Continuously develops and expands knowledge of chemicals, parts, materials, supplies, service, components, and equipment.
  • Shares knowledge and expertise with customer, as required.
  • Maintains the customer’s worksite by leaving it clean, neat, and organized.
  • Performs minor service or preventative maintenance as needed in conjunction with Service Manager.

Shipping and Receiving

  • Participates in ordering materials and supplies, as needed.
  • Delivers items to customer sites, as needed.
  • Takes initiative to ensure timeliness for the customer is considered when placing and coordinating orders.

Communication/Working Relationships

  • Establishes effective documentation, communication, and reporting processes to ensure Sales Manager is kept informed of positive and negative factors impacting the territory and the business.
  • Participates in periodic team meetings.
  • Acts as liaison for the company with customers, vendors, and service providers. Represents the company in a professional manner and appearance.
  • Develops communication links and interfaces internally with Sales Representatives, Warehouse Manager, and Technical Service Manager, as needed, to perform daily tasks.

Other

  • Performs other duties as required or requested.
  • Contributes to the positive team efforts of the territory and the company.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive company, and customer data without exception.
  • Acts upon critical issues immediately within position’s authority and/or asks for assistance/decision-making from the Sales Manager.
  • Suggests ways to do assigned tasks in a more efficient and effective manner.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge/Education/Experience

  • High school graduation or equivalent, required. Bachelor's degree in business with a concentration in marketing/sales, preferred.
  • Knowledge of sales processes, preferred.
  • Two years of experience in car wash operations and related customer service and sales, preferred.
  • Experience, knowledge, and demonstrated effectiveness in sales and customer service.
  • Familiarity with the car wash industry’s standards, concepts, practices, and procedures.

Abilities

  • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks and goals.
  • Ability to collaborate with others.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, performing complicated tasks.
  • Ability to be self-motivated in achieving sales goals.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated attentiveness to details, basic mathematical analytical ability.
  • High sense of organization and follow-through.
  • Customer service skills and sensitivity to timeliness in meeting the customer’s needs.
  • High energy level.
  • Understanding and comfortable using hand tools and performing minor service/PM requests.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing/ Walking – moderate level.
  • Sitting – moderate level.
  • Lifting – up to 40 lbs.
  • Visual/Hearing Concentration – High Level.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Environment – car wash sites and daily travel within assigned region of Northern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
  • Willingness to work out of town, overnight, or during the evening, as needed to accomplish sales goals.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with clean motor vehicle history.
  • HOWCO requires that you keep a professional, safe, and neat appearance, including no visible tattoos in a long-sleeved uniform and pants.
  • HOWCO is a drug-free workplace, and all candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
